Title: Clay for Change
Clay for Change is a student activity group at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and “Empty Bowls” is one of its primary initiatives. Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: handcrafted ceramic bowls are created, guests are invited to enjoy soup within the bowl and for a cash donation they keep the bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity – in this case, Haley House. Clay for Change works to build strong connections between MassArt and the wider community through the arts and ceramics in particular.
