Title: Modular Temporary Emergency Shelter

This structure was designed and built by sophomore students from the MassArt Architectural Design Program. The design problem called for a modular building system that could provide a compact, easily assembled, economical shelter for displaced persons during a time of crisis such as hurricane, earthquake, or similar disaster. Each modules is proportioned to provide a minimal living space for two individuals, and the systems can be combined in a variety of configurations in order to expand into structures to house families of various sizes. The dwellings would then multiply to form the basis moved around depending on how the inhabitant want windows, doors and blank walls to be configured.
