Name: Amy Plante
Department: Fashion Design, 2013
Title: Senior Fashion Collection
“This menswear collection is inspired by the spirit of the punk band frontman and his rowdy cohorts. The raucous combination of over-confidence and a complete lack of self consciousness. A color palette soaked in the 90’s drug punk landscape of Gregg Araki’s “Teen Apocalypse Trilogy” – washed out and blacked out. A conflicting sense of impending doom and naive optimism, with a touch of happy nihilism.”
All the fabrics in this collection are either GOTS-certified organic cottons, or materials repurposed from secondhand clothes (e.g., leather). All the cottons were hand dyed by the designer using plant-based natural dyes. Many of the pieces have handpainted elements using eco-friendly inks.
