Tuesday 6:30-8:30pm
Professor Cynthia Williams (williamsc6@wit.edu)
From the WIT course catalogue: This course offers an exploration of contemporary issues in sustainability and the environment, with each semester focusing on a different theme. Past themes include Urban Ecology, Food and Food Scarcity, and Cultures of Sustainability. The course features weekly lectures by local, regional, and national experts, as well as a major service learning assignment with an emphasis on social justice.
The theme for Spring 2021 is: 5-Mile Radius. By explicitly thinking about place-based ecology and hyper-local environmental challenges, we will confront the inextricable links between sustainability and social justice at one, three, and five miles from the Colleges of the Fenway. Keeping these distances in mind will allow us to focus on needs that are manifested on different scales: our neighborhood, our city, and the greater Boston area. If you have class at MassArt on Tuesdays till 6:30, the professor is working on a solution, so please reach out to me or her and we will find a way for you to take the class.
